Hello everybody! As you know, I've been having troubles with acne lately (insane breakout on my cheeks area since last Christmas) & had tried ways to reduce the breakouts! Went to doctor's visit, trying out different facial products but they just keep coming back.
After going through some online reviews on IDS Clinic, I've decided to give it try. It's kind of like the very last resort already, 'cuz I won't really trust dermatologist that much. Note: This is not sponsored at all and it's based solely on my experience.
Headed to IDS on 15th Apr and consulted Dr. SK Tan (quite well-known to many). After diagnosis, he concluded that my acne-proned skin is in my genes and I have oily skin & clogged pores. So, he recommended me a handful of products and I pushed 2 of them away, simply 'cuz it's too expensive for me. I cashed out a total of $500++ on 6 products and started on my new skincare regime.
Before the visit, I never have a full range of skincare regime 'cuz my previous doc mentioned that I would only need cleanser and sunscreen. Saw results in 2 steps skincare routine within half a year (prev only had mini acne breakout, so it wasn't that bad), so I'm expecting to see fast results for IDS products?
Basically, I practiced a 5 steps regime in the morning and a 6 steps regime before bedtime. IDS Spot worked pretty well. It dries out pimples overnight and it's really effective. I guess my skin is still getting used to it, so it kinda broke out quite fair bit. Honestly, I wanted to ditch the regime and went back to my previous doc, but the whole skincare really cost a bomb and it's been only 4 weeks, so I convinced myself to try it again.
After the first follow-up, I was given a sample of Clear to apply it on my acne marks and Doxy (pills) for 1 month's consumption. At a point of time, I saw results in my left cheek, but days after, it started to break out again. It's like breaking out on the left and healing on the right; then breaking out again on the right and healing on the left. Having constant breakouts yo!
My self-esteem was at the lowest pit and I have thoughts of ending my life! No, I'm very serious, it's been 2 months after using IDS and it shows no sign of improvement at all. What's more, my cheeks are prone to leaving acne marks, so once a pimple popped, the red mark is there. Just imagine, I have constant acne appearing, which means, my acne marks are spreading and it's not healing fast enough.
So, like finally, I ditched the whole skincare regime. I talked to my mum about it and she also said that it's better to stop for awhile and see how the skin goes, rather than having the thought of not wasting the products and ruining the skin.
It's been 2 weeks ever since I last used IDS skincare products (except for cleanser) and the occurrence of my pimples significantly dropped! I'm not kidding but it's really true! Brushing my fingers through my cheeks has never been so smooth before! Although there's still pimples popping out, they seemed smaller and dried out within 2-3 days.
So, that's it then. I'm not going back to IDS products anymore. It may be beneficial for others, but it's definitely not worth the hype for me. I've still more than half of their products left, so do let me know if anyone's interested in buying them over?
ps: I've started my first consultation with Healthsprings Clinic and review about that soon!

Hello! What ids products do you have currently? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous, currently I have
Delete- C1 Cleanser
- T2 Toner
-Pore
-C+ Plus
- A+ Plus
- Spot
Do contact me at josiegiam@gmail.com if you're interested!
Hi, I am using IDS products too(t2 toner, pore, c+, a+ and sunscreen. I stopped a+ because it was irritating my skin. When I went overseas for about 2 weeks and didn't use the products, my skin cleared up. And when I came back and started the regime again, my spots re-appeared. Is your skin better now without the products? I might just stop completely.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous!
DeleteMy skin became better after stopping the whole regime. Less pimples come out and even if those pimples appear, it's those small, tiny kind. You may want to try stopping for a week or so to see how it goes? If it irritates again, then just stop. Better don't risk it. (:
Hey Josie,
ReplyDeleteMay I know what skin regime you're using now? Or did you see any doctor after IDS? Cause your case seems similar to mine, my left cheek broke out, healed then right cheek again and it's not 1 or 2 it's more than that. And similarly, after those pimples disappear they left a lot of red marks all over my cheeks. Wanted to consult IDS but after reading ur post I'm wondering what is the other options.
Hi there! I've visited Healthsprings Clinic upon friend's recommendation and saw good improvements in my skin. I no longer have huge red bumps on my cheeks, only had those small ones, but the acne marks are still there. At least it's getting better already. Different skin had different adaptation capability, so if you believe in IDS, you can try it out!
DeleteHello Josie, may i know what are the treatments you did at Healthsprings Clinic? I was also considering whether to consult IDS but after reading your post and another something similar from another blog... hmmm..
ReplyDeleteHi there! I did not do any treatments at Healthsprings Clinic. The doctor only gave me a new cleanser, moisturizer, Vit C serum and scrub. All cost around $200+. But I'm happy with the results thus far. You can look for Dr Soh if you want to pay them a visit!
DeleteHello, how much fr d consultation fee at healthsprings? U went to healthsprings laser n aesthetic,in orchard rite?
DeleteConsultation fees should be 30+, not really sure about it. I went to the branch in Jelapang. (:
DeleteHi Josie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the review, hestitate to consult ids after reading your review. Do share the pdts review frm Healthsprings clinic, it's so near my place!
Hi Josie, thanks for your review! im also using IDS products and i just feel so frustrated. Similar to you, my complexion took a turn for the worse in the one month after the first consultation. Dr SK Tan prescribed me Doxy during my first follow up too. It's been slightly more than 2 weeks since I started taking Doxy and my skin is sensitive as hell. May I know if you took Doxy for a whole month?
ReplyDeleteHey there! Yup, I took Doxy for the whole month to complete the whole course of it. Maybe you can let Dr. SK knows about the sensitivity? My healthsprings doctor said that it might be due to detoxification but if it's really causing too much irritants, then it might be better to give IDS a ring! Hope it helps!
DeleteHi there, thanks for posting up your experience. This will be a good reference to everyone who need a true review. I have the same issue as you. Now I have also stop using their products. Question is did they try to persuade you to sign their package? I tried on first trial. luckily I did not sign on the package. they are too aggressive!
ReplyDeleteHi Peter. Yup, they tried to sell me their facial package, but the price is too much for me to handle, so I push it away. Am glad that I didn't sign up for any of their package!
DeleteHello, how much does healthsprings facial products cost?As mention in d above, 200 plus is d total amount or just one product?
ReplyDelete200+ includes consultation fees and moisturizer + cleanser + Vitamin C serum.
DeleteWow! The healthsprings consultation fee and the products r just half d price compared to ids clinic? Pls do d healthsprings review soon! Looking forward to it :)
ReplyDeleteHi Josie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post. I have signed IDS AAT treatment just few days back as my previous aesthetics doctor only provide the laser / fraxel to cure the scar left over after my acne recovery. IDS has change my whole set skin care regime (Cleanser C2, Toner T2, C+, AA, Spot & Mask). I am hesitate to give it a try though i have used for 2 days. I worry my acne will come back as is already under controlled by my previous derm. Could you please give me more advise?
Thanks.
Regards,
A
